Summer school in Vidrizi, Latvia

05 August 2013

"Practical and theoretical training for GPs" - this was the subject of the Latvian summer school in Vidrizi organised by the PrimCareIT project and the Association of Rural General Practitioners on 2nd and 3rd August 2013.

The Interreg IVB project PrimCareIT and the Association of Rural General Practitioners organised this event, which was attended by 46 general practitioners from different districts of Latvia. Moderator was Liga Kozlovska, active as GP in the PrimCareIT pilot. Project partner Aigars Miezitis presented the first results of the PrimCareIT pilots. Representative of Firm TeleMedica Andris Glazitis responsible for tele-consultations in dermatology and endocrinology commented the pilots and demonstrated the advantages of mobile EKG for primary care in rural areas.

On the second day the mid-term evaluation of the Latvian pilot in tele-consultation was on the agenda. The discussion led to very interesting findings, e.g. the improvement of the template for tele-consultations. Conclusion at the end of the day: If tele-consultation is used in an elaborated way, the patient in rural areas benefits enormously.

And the GPs benefited from the Summer school and gave a very positive feedback to the project partners.
