Finnish eHealth experts met in Seinäjoki

The annual Finnish Telemedicine and eHealth Conference was held in Seinäjoki from 18th to 19th of April 2013, co-hosted by South Ostrobothnia Health Technology Development Centre and South Ostrobothnia Health Care District.

Over 100 Finnish and foreign telemedicine experts gathered to discuss the ongoing eHealth issues and latest developments. PrimCareIT project leader Sami Perälä presented the project results to the expert group, discussing the possibilities of telemedicine in preventing brain drain in remote primary care. Furthermore, eHealth for Regions network was presented by Professor Roland Trill from the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences.



The Finnish Minister of Health and Social Services, Mrs. Paula Risikko, spoke about the future challenges which health and social services are facing. In her speech, she underlined the importance and possibilities of eHealth in answering the challenges of an ageing population. As she stated - "Health technology is a good servant, but a bad master" - technologies can help us to overcome many challenges, but people will always be needed to apply them.
